Bob Montana's Kids Not Happy About ARCHIE's Engagement

It isn't every day that someone you know is on the cover of the paper. Today, I saw my friend Stan Goldberg's cover to ARCHIE #600 (ably inked by Bob Smith) right there on the front page of Foster's Daily Democrat, the biggest paper here in Strafford County, New Hampshire.

"Archie Marries Veronica The Proposal Part 1 of 6" is the title of the comic book story, and Paige Kuether and Lynn Montana say their Dad, Bob Montana, who created Archie in 1941, would not have approved.

Bob Montana and his wife lived for years in an old farmhouse in Meredith, NH. Paige and Lynn continue to reside in New Hampshire, and offer their take in the Foster's newspaper article
Please, say it isn't so, Archie! Not Veronica! By John Koziol:

"The key to Archie's success, Montana said, is that for 68 years he has been a teenager.

"'Look at Charlie Brown, look at Nancy, she didn't grow up, and look at all the other child cartoons and comics, they don't grow up, so I don't know where this came from, but I wish them the best of luck.'"
The whole story is here.

My great-grandfather's farm is in Meredith. The town is darn proud of its connection to Archie history.
